EU Presidency 2024: the parliamentary dimension

From 1 January 2024 to 30 June 2024, Belgium will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. There is always an extensive parliamentary dimension attached to a presidency. Compared to the previous Belgian presidency in the second half of 2010, the role of national parliaments in European policy has greatly increased. As a consequence, interparliamentary cooperation has become much more important.
In the first half of 2024, the Chamber of Representatives and the Senate are inviting MPs from across the European Union and beyond to the various conferences they are organising. In addition, a number of parliaments of the federated entities are also organising conferences. They do this as part of the Belgian Parliamentary System.
Within the framework of the parliamentary dimension of the presidency, we have developed a website where all information can be found: www.parleu2024.be/en.
The Belgian parliaments will also be active on social media: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter) and YouTube.
The Belgian Parliaments will certainly keep you informed about the various activities over the next six months.
